This is such a shame, and seems to totally disregard the impact on students and post-16 providers. I can't understand the rationale for ignoring a more pragmatic option.https://t.co/bhtNwe6pc8

There is a chance that 455 school and college leaders (that educate 388,000 16 to 19 year olds) are wrong and ministers are right. But they at least deserved a response that addressed their request for a pause to defunding. #ProtectStudentChoice @Jacqui_Smith1 https://t.co/NnaEyMZkyP

The letter signed by 455 school & college leaders urging the gov to to pause the defunding of AGQs deserved a much better response than this. We urge @bphillipsonMP and @Jacqui_Smith1 to #ProtectStudentChoice and pause defunding before it is too late. https://t.co/3qIge10J9Y pic.twitter.com/3ZNUjSYw6a

Yes, one word judgments remain for everyone on the FE framework, so incl 16-19 academies (and free schools).

On the governance side, we're also thrilled to share the reflections of Ian Wilson, former chair at @LR6FC, on his award-winning time as a governor and what others should know:https://t.co/JELxBGxNvC

New year, new blogs! This week, we have a short but incredibly impactful piece from Mark, exec principal @DixonsAcademies, on implementing a 9-day fortnight for teachers at the trust's sixth form college. https://t.co/dYThX01CR6

Well said by @AltafLSFC, as well as his students, here: “When people are anxious, they make the wrong decision.” That applies just as much to governments as it does to confused and worried year 11s. #protectstudentchoice https://t.co/6jKEAEj81c

Fab to be joined by @BBCLookEast, speaking to newly enrolled students about the future of Vocational Qualifications @LutonSixthForm. We are keen AND proud advocates of Vocational Quals, as we strongly believe in the paths they open for our young people! #ProtectStudentChoice pic.twitter.com/7D59LwyisN

Why cull them? Speak to most people in the sector & students who take these qualifications & it’s clear scrapping them was flawed. https://t.co/1NNrQmrruM

A really clear and constructive request from 455 school and college leaders yesterday. These are the voices that @bphillipsonMP and @Jacqui_Smith1 have promised to listen to and we hope to receive a positive response soon. #ProtectStudentChoice https://t.co/IDqT9CoBab

Please support the @sfca_info and @ASCL_UK campaign to ask @UKLabour to honour their election commitment to support those most challenged and disadvantaged and retaining the choice of a wide range of Level 3 qualifications. @LongleyParkSF and @brigantialearn1 needs your support.

LSC supports the Protect Student Choice Campaign and believes that AGQs have a vital role in post-16 education. The following letter urges the Education Secretary to pause the defunding of these important qualifications.#ProtectStudentChoice. @SFCA_info pic.twitter.com/y3C9bP8hSC

It was great to hear Jamie, principal of @longleyparkSF, on with @elliecolton_ on @BBCSheffield this morning. He explained why he and 454 other education leaders are urgently asking @educationgovuk to #protectstudentchoice pic.twitter.com/gYiJ4NXhPr

It is crucial that @bphillipsonMP listens to schools and colleges on this one. A one year extension to the current qualifications will allow proper decisions to be made about the future without impacting on some of the most vulnerable students. https://t.co/yEEu541Xrp

“It will make planning and imagining your future very difficult. We urge the Government to pause defunding and give us the chance to support curriculum changes in a reasonable time frame.” Stuart Worden, Principal The BRIT School #ProtectStudentChoicehttps://t.co/OuCR5CPqLl

Our students are hugely successful in their BTEC and other AGQs. These qualifications are game-changers in terms of enabling social mobility, that's why we're supporting the #ProtectStudentChoice campaign.@SFCA_info @AngelaRayner https://t.co/LHihIUgMsF pic.twitter.com/bmsqskG1aw

This is the only misstep I’ve seen Phillipson make so far. There is no way colleges can wait until Jan to find out if they can offer BTECs next September. Open evenings are this term! Ads need designing, staff sorting! And crucially: this would never happen to A-Levels. https://t.co/7fU4ZL6tji

Great to hear @kristianj23's report on @BBCr4today this morning. It's insulting to hear DfE's response that its review is bringing certainty to the sector when we don't know what courses we can offer to vocational students *next year*. #protectstudentchoice pic.twitter.com/qJnE7VDNTv
